In the first part of this research paper series we outlined ten Cell Structure Design patterns that we consider foundational to effective organizational structure and design in pretty much every organization. In this 2nd part of the series, we will explore another set of patterns in decentralized organizational design. Compared to the first, this set of patterns is somewhat broader in scope and less tightly focused on structural arrangements: Some of the patterns may seem to be less obviously connected to organizational structures. However, these 10 themes have proven to be key during most, if not all of the dozens of Cell Structure Design efforts we have undertaken.
